Towns, Forts, Gardens & Shrines
Some of the more famous towns, gardens, fort and shrine associated with Hari Singh Nalwa include —
Gujranwala
Hari Singh Nalwa transformed Gujranwala from being an inconsequential hamlet in the late eighteenth century, to a chief town in the nineteenth. He was remembered as the greatest benefactor of the place and was credited with having built its ‘New Town’ (Cave-Browne, 1857: 166). The grid pattern of roads suggested that the town had a planned layout to facilitate better civic amenities.
