“SARBAT DA BHALLAH” (May God bless all)
The Sikh Humanitarian Society (Regd.) has been assisting girls from families that fall below the poverty line for over a decade. It is managed by a few retired individuals who have pledged to spend the remaining part of their life in service of a noble and constructive cause.
The Sikh Humanitarian Society (Regd.) provides absolutely free education and health care services to girls from impoversihed backgrounds, in its endeavour to bring about a revolutionary change in Society. We believe that good education and healthcare will result in girls who are empowered.
This initiative commenced in the year 2000 under the guidance of retired late. Chief Justice R.S. Narula, together with seven others, namely, S. Satpal Singh (President), S. Tirath Singh (Vice President), S. Gurbax Singh (Secretary), S. Harbans Singh Maker (Treasurer), Bibi Raminder Kaur (d/o Late. S. Hukam Singh, Speaker of Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament, New Delhi), S. Kanwar Singh Bhasin, S. Prithpal Singh Bakshi and S. Jatinder Singh as members of the managing body.
The place selected for imparting elementary education (academic), training in cutting and tailoring, sangeet classes was a resettlement colony for the 1984 riot victims in West Delhi (Rohini, New Delhi-110089).
As many as 150 to 200 girl students enrolled. It soon became impossible to accommodate them in the existing 50 sq metres. S. Jaswinder Singh Kohli (Manchester U.K) happened to visit to Rohini in 2002. On seeing enthusiasm of the students and the paucity of space, he immediately arranged for the construction of a 2½ storey building on 25 sq m in the newly developed DDA colony in Sector 16, not far from the existing hutment.
This provided some relief, yet it was not enough to accommodate all the students. In 2005, S. Jaswant Singh Rehal (Scottsdala, Arizona, USA) paid a visit to the school. He realised the need for more accommodation and asked his son-in-law, Dr. S. Parvinderjit Singh Khanuja, to gift one more floor to the existing building.
With the blessings of Akal Purakh (God) the Society has continued to grow.
In 2011, the Sikh Humanitarian Society (Regd) has sponsored:
Five girls for the Bachelor of Arts Degree examination (part time correspondence course) from Delhi University. Two visually challenged girls for the Master’s Degree another for the Bachelor’s Degree from IGNOU

4 girls for the Class X (Secondary) examination

In addition, 44 girls are enrolled in the Primary & Nursery classes and another 28 girls are receiving training in cutting and tailoring, and fashion designing. All the girl students (from nursery up to Class 9) are also attending music and moral education classes.
The Staff includes qualified and graduate lady teachers. Five retired principals from various colleges in Delhi have also offered their services for coaching the girl students in their respective areas of specialization. One visually challenged Principal (retired) from the Department of Education, Government of NCR Delhi, has also joined the Society as a coach for the visually challenged girl students.
